President Donald Trump is considering a ban on diesel exports as a way to bring down rising fuel costs at home. The proposal has triggered immediate resistance from major business organizations, which argue the move would create more problems than it solves.

Industry groups representing refiners, transporters, farmers and retailers have warned the White House that restricting exports could disrupt global supply chains and weaken domestic production.
