I use AI to help run my business, but I'd rather hire more people

I use AI to help run my business, but I'd rather hire more people

A small business owner in Brooklyn has taken an unusual approach to scaling her company. She has built a virtual C-suite made up of AI agents that handle operations, scheduling, customer follow-ups, and even basic financial tracking. The setup lets her run the business with a leaner team, and she says it has cut down her administrative workload by nearly half.

But there is a line she will not cross. For anything that involves creativity, she still hires people. Writing, design, branding, and content strategy all go to human freelancers or employees. She says AI can organize, summarize, and automate, but it cannot capture the nuance of a brand voice or the emotional pull of a good story. When she tested AI for a marketing campaign, the results felt flat and generic. She scrapped it and paid a writer instead.

Her reasoning is practical. AI saves her money on routine tasks, which frees up budget to pay more humans for the work that actually matters. She says she would rather hire more people for creative roles than rely on AI to fake originality. The system works for now, but she admits it is a balancing act. She watches the AI output closely and still reviews everything before it goes out. The goal is to use AI as a tool, not a replacement for the human touch that keeps her customers coming back.
