As initial attention fades from the devastating earthquake in Venezuela, two Boca Raton businesses are working to keep the relief effort alive. GalaFresh and Doctor Chicha are calling on the community to keep donating, stressing that the recovery process is just beginning and long-term aid is still critically needed.
The businesses have set up collection points for essential supplies, including non-perishable food, medical kits, and hygiene products. Staff members say that while the immediate crisis may no longer dominate headlines, the situation on the ground remains dire for thousands of displaced families.
"We can't let the world move on while people are still suffering," said a representative from Doctor Chicha. "The earthquake destroyed homes, schools, and hospitals. Rebuilding will take months, if not years."
GalaFresh echoed the sentiment, urging locals to drop off donations or contribute funds. The push comes as many disaster relief campaigns see a sharp drop in support once the initial shock wears off. Organizers hope that steady, consistent giving will help fill gaps left by larger aid organizations that have already scaled back operations.
Both businesses plan to continue their collection drives through the end of the month, with shipments scheduled to arrive in affected regions as soon as possible. They are asking residents to remember that even small contributions can make a difference in the long road ahead.
