A shooting inside a business in Humboldt Park left a 31-year-old man fighting for his life Friday evening, according to police.
The victim was inside the establishment around 7:20 p.m. when an unknown person walked up to him and opened fire, striking him once in the chest. Authorities said the two men had no prior connection, and investigators have not offered a possible motive for the attack.
Emergency crews rushed the man to a nearby hospital, where he remained in critical condition. His name has not been released.
Police have not announced any arrests and did not provide a description of the shooter. Detectives are reviewing surveillance footage from the business and interviewing witnesses as the search continues.
