Business schools across the United States and Europe have started releasing their application deadlines for the 2026-2027 admissions cycle. For prospective MBA candidates, knowing these dates is critical for planning test schedules, preparing essays, and securing recommendation letters. While each school sets its own timeline, most follow a familiar pattern of early action, round one, round two, and round three deadlines.
At Harvard Business School, the round one deadline is expected in early September 2026, with decisions released by early December. Stanford Graduate School of Business typically follows a similar schedule, with its first round due in mid-September. The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania usually sets its round one deadline for early September as well, while round two falls in early January 2027.
European programs often start earlier. INSEAD, with campuses in France and Singapore, has a September 2026 intake deadline in April 2026, and a January 2027 intake deadline in November 2026. London Business School generally offers multiple rounds, with the first round closing in early September 2026.
For candidates targeting scholarships or need-based aid, applying in round one or round two is strongly advised. Round three deadlines, often in March or April 2027, have fewer seats and less financial aid available. Many schools also offer rolling admissions for their executive MBA programs, so candidates should check individual school websites for exact dates.
Applicants should prepare their GMAT or GRE scores well in advance, as test dates fill up quickly. Essays, resumes, and interview preparation should also be finalized before the deadline. Missing a deadline by even a day can mean waiting an entire year for the next cycle, so careful planning is essential.
