Every summer, students at the Sigmund Weis School of Business at Susquehanna University step out of the classroom and put their knowledge to work through internships in countries around the world. The program gives undergraduates a chance to experience business practices in different cultures while building the kind of resume that stands out to employers.
Participants take on real responsibilities at host organizations, from analyzing market data to supporting client projects. Living and working abroad also pushes students to adapt quickly, communicate across cultural lines, and solve problems far from familiar routines. Many say the experience changes how they see their own career paths.
Faculty involved with the program note that international placements require careful planning, including language preparation and partnerships with companies abroad. Students receive guidance before departure and check in with advisers while overseas.
The school frames these internships as a core part of its mission to prepare graduates for a connected economy. For many students, the summer abroad becomes the most memorable part of their degree, and often the first step toward a career with a global reach.
