On a recent round-trip Amtrak ride from New York City to Rochester, I regretted booking a train with a long stop and sitting in business class. The journey, which lasted 16 hours, provided ample time to reflect on my travel choices.
One of the primary mistakes was not paying attention to the train schedule. The extended layover in Albany turned a manageable trip into an exhausting ordeal. Additionally, while business class promised more comfort, the reality was less than ideal, with limited amenities and a lack of significant difference compared to standard seating.
I also underestimated the importance of packing snacks and entertainment. The long hours on the train felt even longer without sufficient food or engaging activities. Furthermore, I realized that I should have checked for any discounts or promotions that might have made my trip more economical.
Overall, this experience taught me valuable lessons about planning and preparation for future travels.
