Smithville Starts Fast and Cruises Past Grand Valley in Playoff Opener

Smithville didn't waste anytime early running away from Grand Valley in the Smithies first round playoff win on Friday.

The Smithies set the tone from the opening possession and never let Grand Valley settle into the game. By the time the first quarter ended, the outcome was already trending in one direction, and Smithville kept its foot on the gas through the second half to close out a comfortable victory.

The offense moved the ball with purpose, mixing runs and quick passes to keep Grand Valley off balance. The defense matched that energy, swarming to the ball and forcing Grand Valley into short possessions that stalled before they could build momentum.

Smithville's special teams also contributed, flipping field position and giving the offense short fields to work with. The combination of early execution and steady pressure allowed the Smithies to control the clock and the tempo for most of the night.

Grand Valley found a few bright spots late, but the early deficit proved too much to overcome. Smithville now moves on to the next round with momentum and a clean performance to build on.
