A new effort is underway to put Woodfin on the map, quite literally. The Woodfin Business Association has rolled out an online directory designed to help people find shops, services, and restaurants in the town, with the goal of making the community easier to navigate for both longtime residents and first-time visitors.
The project comes in response to a common complaint: Woodfin, though close to Asheville, often gets overlooked. Many people drive through without realizing what the town has to offer. The association hopes the directory will change that by giving local businesses a single, clear platform to showcase what they do.
The site is organized by category, so someone looking for a mechanic, a hair salon, or a place to grab lunch can quickly see what is available. Each listing includes basic contact information, hours, and a short description. The association says it will update the directory regularly and encourages any local business that has not yet signed up to do so.
Beyond just listing names, the group wants to build a stronger sense of place. The directory is part of a broader push to market Woodfin as a destination, not just a pass-through. Organizers say they are also planning events and promotional materials that tie into the online presence.
For now, the focus is on getting the word out. The association is reaching out to business owners directly and asking residents to share the link with friends and neighbors. The hope is that a more visible Woodfin will mean more foot traffic, more customers, and a more connected community overall.
