World Cup created a ton of momentum for our business: FanDuel president

FanDuel's top executive says the company is entering the NFL season with strong tailwinds, crediting this summer's World Cup for driving significant customer engagement. Christian Genetski, president of FanDuel, told Fox Business that the international soccer tournament created a surge of activity that has carried into the fall sports calendar.

"The World Cup created a ton of momentum for our business," Genetski said during an appearance on The Claman Countdown. He noted that the event brought in a wave of new users, many of whom were betting on soccer for the first time. That experience, he explained, helped the platform refine its mobile app and live betting features ahead of the busiest stretch of the year.

Now, with the NFL season kicking off, Genetski says FanDuel is focused on keeping those users engaged. He pointed to the growing popularity of same-game parlays and live in-play wagering as key drivers. He also acknowledged the competitive landscape, with rivals like DraftKings and BetMGM spending heavily on marketing.

The interview also touched on a legal dispute in New York. State regulators have sued Kalshi, a prediction market platform, over allegations it operates unlicensed sports betting. Genetski did not comment directly on the lawsuit but stressed that FanDuel operates under strict state licenses and follows all local rules. He said clear regulation protects consumers and keeps the industry credible.

With football now in full swing, Genetski expects record handle numbers. He said the company's technology and customer service will be tested, but he believes the World Cup proved FanDuel can handle high traffic. "We are ready for the season," he said.
